On the 18th we visited Kitee which is located about an one hour drive north of Uukuniemi. Below The Church of Kitee.
In the 90's an archaeologist found the remains of a medieval village and a few years ago the locals made a path for visitors to get to know the history of the area. The village was abandoned in the 15th century.
On the way back home we visited a place called "Patsaspuisto" ('statue park') which is the home for 560 statues.
